Healthcare is in the midst of one of its most significant care delivery shifts in decades. Advances in remote patient monitoring, virtual care, connected devices, and valuebased care models now make the home a viable setting for patients who once needed extended hospital or facility-based treatment.
For respiratory patients, this transformation has been particularly meaningful. Portable oxygen concentrators, remote monitoring technologies, and expanded home oxygen programs now help more people with chronic respiratory disease stay active, independent, and safely cared for outside traditional healthcare settings.
The benefits are clear. Patients overwhelmingly prefer to recover and manage chronic conditions at home. Health systems reduce unnecessary admissions and readmissions. Providers gain new opportunities to deliver care more efficiently.
But there is one foundational requirement that often receives far less attention than telehealth platforms, digital tools, or care coordination models:
