Ann connects legal work with care delivery and positions the legal team within the broader mission of treating patients.“ I see our legal team as indirect caregivers. Even though we’ re not at the bedside, I believe we support patient care,” she highlights. Her perspective shapes how her team operates, ensuring their legal guidance reaches into execution.“ I don’ t want us to provide legal advice, send it off, and leave it at that,” she adds.
The legal team partners with clinical and operational leaders to implement guidance and remove barriers that disrupt care.“ It’ s rare for regulations to be so technical and rigid that they conflict with what’ s right for the patient,” she remarks. If alignment does break down, Ann reviews the analysis rather than questioning the care model.“ If what’ s best for the patient isn’ t matching the regulatory analysis, you’ re probably missing a step,” she observes.
