AWKO Continues Its Winning Fight For Veterans

By Donna Law
Aylstock , Witkin , Kreis & Overholtz ( AWKO ), has been a proud supporter of the United States Armed Forces for many years . Through our hiring of Veterans and our ongoing litigation on behalf of service men and women , we are committed to the people who for so many years , have been committed to us .
Currently , we represent thousands of Veterans around the world , active duty and retired , against a major manufacturer of defective hearing protection that caused significant hearing damage and resulted in countless challenges for many of our Veterans . Through this litigation we ’ ve been able to defend these service members against unfair and unethical business practices while simultaneously sending a clear message to the defense contract industry : Mess with our military members and we ’ ll hold you accountable !
AWKO has over 30 military Veterans currently employed across a broad spectrum of unique specialties and as a company , we ’ ve come to rely on their mission-focus , decision making skills and attention to detail . So while we appreciate and respect all of our employees , we are especially glad for our prior-service men and women for unique and refreshing ways they are able to see challenges clearly and solve them efficiently !
A partner to our local support organizations , the firm hired three Veterans after they had completed stringent requirements of the local Veterans Court , whose process gives these individuals a second chance after making mistakes . Because of their service to our nation , AWKO was willing to give them a second chance as well .
With the help and direction of AHERO , AWKO donated funds to Pensacola ’ s Veterans Memorial Park Foundation and continues to support the local Gold Star Families organization * in establishing a Gold Star Family Memorial Monument in Veterans Memorial Park .
The firm has given out 92 Scholarships to local Senior High School Students . The Justice Foundation hosts the monthly kids cooking class , “ Hungry for Justice ,” which teaches healthy recipes and promotes healthy food and healthy fun . Our local students are the future leaders of our community . Providing them the opportunity to grow and learn in a positive environment , regardless of personal circumstance , is one of the greatest pursuits of justice we can undertake .
The organization ’ s mission is to make donations to local and national charitable organizations that serve the underprivileged , the underrepresented and the cause of justice .
As an organization of people from incredibly diverse backgrounds , experiences and beliefs , the people of AWKO are committed to the most profound ideals of our American republic , in which “ life , liberty and the pursuit of happiness ,” mean more than simply words . Here , we are all free to reach the fullest measure of our ability under the protections of our Constitution made possible , in great measure , by our service men and women . So from that perspective , how could our unwavering support for our military and its Veterans be any different ?
* Now officially named Gold Star & Surviving Families CONNECT ( or GSSFC )
