AHERO ’ S SHOUT OUT TO VOLUNTEER : Tamar Doull Brings Us Her Hard-Working Volunteer Style

On her final three-year tour after ten years in the German Armed Forces , AHERO volunteer Tamar Doull worked as a liaison at TRADOC ( Training and Doctrine ) in Fort Eustis , Virginia . It was throughout this time that she traveled to U . S . Army bases here and worked with American service members . Many of these working relationships developed into lasting friendships .
Doull met Lee Stuckey while on a trip to Carlisle , Pennsylvania . She heard about AHERO from him , and about his mission to help America ’ s wounded Veterans . What he told her struck a chord .
“ In my three years of traveling , I had confronted trauma and learned more about suicide than in all the years I ’ d served before ,” Doull said . “ I learned that , in spite of which uniform we were wearing , we all suffered under the same invisible enemy .”
A soldier from one of America ’ s staunches allies , Germany , she felt that Americans treated her with honor and respect . Now she is proud to be a part of the AHERO family , and of being involved with Veteran healing . A solid service record as a German Army soldier , Tamar Doull has no fear of heights .
Tamar is a multi-tasker supreme – great qualities in a volunteer ! Here she is deep in concentration doing some needed sprucing up . equipment , and setting up cameras , as well as on animal control of hogs and possums ,” he said . “ She just keeps going .”
Stucky ’ s friend and fellow AHERO board member , Dave Glassman , echoed his praise of this soldier .
“ Volunteers like Tamar Doull are so appreciated . They are critical to our team in bringing together at-risk Veterans and active-service members to benefit from the healing power of being again among their peers – here in beautiful settings of nature ,” he said .
