I met Phil there as a pledge brother for our fraternity . We have been friends ever since . Prior to that , I hadn ’ t really known what Veterans , when they were serving , had to go through to carry out our country ’ s mission .
Being Phil ’ s friend and talking to him about what he has endured and continues to endure inspired me and has made me appreciate our military exponentially more over the years . The sacrifices they make is nothing short of awe-inspiring .
Building towards AHERO ’ s future expansion is an excellent project for the wounded Veterans it is dedicated to helping . At Sabel Steel , we are very glad to support it . In my view , offering experiences that bolster their enthusiasm for living should be common practice amongst all organizations helping them cope with life outside of the military . This gives AHERO the kind of support needed to prevent more Veteran suicides .
Therapy takes many forms and as AHERO grows , its “ screen porch therapy ” will help many more of these heroes talk out their issues with one another . Acclimating or reacclimating them to nature and providing safe places to talk over their common and unique issues , I believe , is what enables AHERO ’ s guest Veterans to connect with themselves , each other , and nature . And that is a beautiful thing .

AHERO ’ S WAY OF SAYING “ THANK YOU ”
The farm owners who offer AHERO ’ s guest Veterans the opportunity to hunt their woodlands and fields are a great blessing to this all-volunteer organization . Without their generosity and the accommodations they provide , the classic AHERO hunting events would not be possible . As the organization grows , the goal is to expand the AHERO “ footprint ” itself in order to be able to serve more Veterans , and efforts continue toward achieving this goal . We are hugely grateful to the individuals , businesses and organizations who are supporting that goal and continue to support our hunts and other events by donating their gifts , efforts , and expertise . They make our successes happen . Proof of this is the joy seen on the faces of our AHERO guest Veterans … so we love telling you about all of them in this magazine . ~ The editors
