Cidr Breeding Program
Cidr – Inserting CIDIROL provides an effective and convenient means for synchronisation. Inseminations can be to detected
estrus. Resynchronise is strongly recommended particularly where large groups of animals are being synchronised.
Treatment Protocol – Insemination on observation of heat.
Round 1
DAY 1
~Insert Cidr and Inject (2ml: CIDIROL – Cows) and (1ml: CIDIROL – Heifers).
DAY 9
~Remove Cidr and Inject (2ml: PG - Prostaglandin – Cows) and (1ml: PG - Prostaglandin – Heifers)
Apply Kamar Heat Detectors.
DAY 11
~Inseminate to detected estrus and inject (1ml: CIDIROL) to all animals not seen on heat.
DAY 12
~Inseminate all animals in standing heat.
Round 2
DAY 24
~Re-administer Cidr and inject (2ml: CIDIROL).
DAY 31
~Remove Cidr.
DAY 33
~Inseminate all animals in standing heat.
DAY 34
~Inseminate all animals in standing heat.
DAY 35
~Inseminate all animals in standing heat.
Prostaglandin Program
This involves giving 2 injections of PG – Prostaglandin 11 days apart. With the 2nd injection you also apply a Kamar Heat
Detector to aid in detection of estrus (heat). The cows / heifers will then come into synchronised heat approximately 24 hours
after the final injection. Alternatively you may apply Kamar Heat Detectors on Day 0, heat detect and AI over 4 days, on Day 5
inject with PG – Prostaglandin, heat detect and AI over 5 days.
