Gerhard van Deventer of the Sandberg Fynbos
Reserve presents an exhibition of plants and
flowers typical of the Sandveld. This botanical
hotspot is home to the Hottentot Buttonquail,
Turnix hottentottus, a range-restricted fynbos
endemic, probably the most thinly distributed
of South Africa’s endemic bird species
classified as Endangered.
Madine Swart, author of the book Flora se
Geheime Taal (Flora’s secret language), will
teach us more about the stories behind the
common names of plants from the area.
There will be floral art by Elbeth Liebenberg,
Emmie Pasbst, Soma Viljoen and Bredasdorp
Flower School on display. There will also be
fresh fynbos flowers for sale.
Rooiklip Aloe Nursery’s exhibition of aloes
and succulents is an inspiration for water wise
gardening.
Something for everyone, including the ladies!
The Agrisell Ladies’ programme will be
presented daily in the Distinctive Choice
tent at Nampo Cape, 12-14 September at
Bredasdorp Park, Bredasdorp.
The ladies’ programme offers a place where
women can sit, relax, listen to music, learn
new paint techniques and ideas for venison.
The programme will be opened daily at 09:30
by Ms Retha de Villiers, spouse of Mr Jannie
de Villiers of Grain SA, with an inspiring
message in “Soul Food for the day”.
Well-known musician, Pedro Kruger, will
entertain the ladies daily at 10:00 with his
VIA-television programme “Klavierkuier met
Pedro”.
Nadine Vosloo will share unique techniques
to decorate homes and dinner tables in her
AgriKultuur |AgriCulture
presentation “The new chalk of the town” at
10:30. Wednesday’s theme is “Lay a table”
where she will inspire ladies to decorate a
table for any occasion with Tjoko chalk paint.
Thursday’s theme is “Paint your kitchen/
furniture” where you can learn everything you
need to know about painting your furniture or
kitchen. On Friday ladies can look forward to
“Cheese, wine and an ottoman” where they will
learn to work with transfers and how to give
new life to an upholstered item.
Me Carmen Niehaus, food editor
of Huisgenoot, will present venison
demonstrations every day at 11:00. She will
teach us more about cutting a carcass and
preparing the different cuts for cooking. She
will focus on a different cut every day with a
cooking demonstration of a delicious venison
dish at 11:30 daily.
