T he SA Cheese Festival pulled out all the stops to present top entertainment programmes for its fifteenth year celebrations. One of the programmes that will be in the spotlight this year, is the Checkers Theatre, where mouth-watering dishes with the best cheese, meat and wine will be presented by our charming celebrity friends Nataniël, Jenny Morris, Herman Lensing and Jody Theodore. Other bands that will be performing, include Bev Scott Quartet, Undercover, Absolutely Fab and Late Final. Nataniël and Herman Lensing creating food masterpieces with quality Checkers products in the Checkers Theatre Two new entertainment programmes is the Agri-Expo Tasting Room, where Nico Stone, SAB’s Beer Specialist, will present a cheese and craft beer tasting, sponsored by SAB. Lapa Uitgewers sponsors well-known chefs and food writers, Susina Jooste, Henk Stander and Francois Ferreira who will entertain festival goers with delicious cheese recipes. Expand your knowledge of wine with the wine tastings presented by the Chenin Blanc Association and Shiraz SA, sponsored by Standard Bank. The Cape Made Kitchen, sponsored by the Western Cape Department of Agriculture, is another exciting new programme, where the chefs of the Private Hotel School and the Institute of Culinary Arts will present interesting combinations of cheese and alternative products, such as pomegranates, olives, mushrooms, infused teas, honey and other niche products. Music in the spotlight As a special gift to festival goers, the 15th year of the SA Cheese Festival will end-off on a high note, with the amazing music of Al Bairre and Blackbyrd. Both bands will be performing exclusively on Monday, 2 May 2016. Create your own masterpiece with an ordinary block of cheese and challenge your friends and family to join in. Enter at Blossom’s Gazebo on the festival grounds and stand in line to win some awesome prizes. The SA Cheese Festival takes place from Saturday, 30 April to Monday, 2 May at Sandringham, Stellenbosch. Tickets are available from Computicket and all Shoprite and Checkers stores at R150 per person. Senior citizens pay R100 and children 13 years and younger enter free. No tickets will be sold at the gates. Festival times are from 10:00 – 18:00 daily.
