in a cool dark place. Do not store
your seeds in the fridge as they
should not become damp. Seeds
that are enveloped in a glutinous or
slimy covering should be washed
free from this substance and then
dried, e.g. tomatoes. Most vegetable seeds do not require any special
treatment, for example, like the
protea, which requires smoke to
germinate, and that is why the
Cape Mountain fires are actually
essential to the germination of the
protea seeds. Remember to label
you seeds well, as brassica seeds
look almost the exactly same and
are very difficult to tell them apart,
as do cucurbit seeds, if you don't
know which plant you saved them
from. Beans should be allowed to
dry in their pods on the plant.
