HOW DOES THIS COMPARE

Hokkaido is not the best geographical area for agriculture unlike the geographical locations for the Olmec and Indus Valley civilizations. Although land may be fertile from volcanic activity, up till now Hokkaido still faces many natural disasters which disrupts agriculture and makes it difficult for farmers to cultivate crops. The lack of agriculture may be the reason as to why they failed to urbanize their land and lived relatively simple lives. Labor requires increased food supply and with all the natural disruptions, agriculture would have been very difficult. Hence why the Ainu civilization had the least advanced infrastructure out of the two.
