W oolworths will put together an $80 ‘basics box’ for vulnerable customers unable to leave their homes. The supermarket chain will work with Australia Post and DHL Supply Chain to distribute the boxes across ACT, New South Wales and Victoria, with other states expected to follow in coming weeks. Prime Minister Scott Morrison urged people over 70 to stay home and self-isolate. When asked by a reporter how older adults would be able to access groceries and other essentials, Morrison said it’s not a strict rule and is rather “there for their own protection”. “What we’re encouraging elderly residents to do is to stay home as much as is practicable, and should they need support, I’m sure they can get support through their community or others,” he said. “I’m sure they could get support through other local community organisations, volunteer groups, that those services and those numbers are available.” The retailer’s package will contain meals, snacks and a few essential items, and the $80 price tag includes contactless doorstop delivery by Australia Post within an estimated 2–5 business days of order. Woolworths said it would not be profiting from the service. Woolworths Group CEO Brad Banducci said: “We understand many of our older or more vulnerable customers will be anxious about their food and grocery needs in the weeks ahead. “Going to the supermarket is a key part of everyday life for many of them, and some will have never even considered ordering groceries online before.” Banducci urged Australians to keep those who need the service most front of mind. “If you can shop for a friend, family or loved one, please do. Because there will be some in our community who don’t have that option, and we need your help to put the most vulnerable first.” Customers can order online or over the phone.  ■ medication lubricant Making tablets easier to swallow The fi rst and only medication lubricant available in Australia View more information here: www.gloup.com.au | Watch Gloup ® training video here: www.gloup.com.au/training Always read the label.
