Adults have a habit of taking teens voices. Parents can dictate what teens wear, how teens act, or bigger things. The line between guidance and control is easy to cross. Of course all people seek guidance when they do not already know, but all too often teens do not get the chance to learn from their mistakes. Teen’s opinions tend to be overlooked because of their age; however, they may have valuable insight. Here are some things I have done to be the master of my fate.
Financial dependency is what gives parents a hold over teens. I got a job and saved money. When my parents started noticing my cheaper cost of living, I knew it was working. Money is often power. If its used wisely and not squandered, it can help teens gain control.
