gun control

the nation's hot topic

Today I will be addressing the issue of gun control. Gun control is one of the most debated topics in this country. It is part of our Bill of Rights. The 2nd Amendment guarantees “the right to keep and bear arms”. The three main disagreements on gun-control are: Background Checks, Banning Automatic Weapons, and restrictions on who can purchase guns. The gun control side says that background checks should be mandatory, while the anti-gun control says that infringes on one’s personal privacy. The gun control side goes on to say that automatic weapons should be banned, as the anti-gun control side wishes to cease these proposals. The gun control side also goes on to propose more restrictions on who can purchase firearms, and the anti-gun control would like less limitations on who can buy them.

While some points are agreed upon, they are for different reasons. One of the points made that both agree on is that guns can be acquired by criminals. The pro-gun control is afraid that crime will rise with more citizens armed. And the anti-gun control side fears that citizens will be more vulnerable to criminals without personal protection.

Lets talk about both sides wants in this debate, the pro-gun control wants a three day wait for every state, while the anti-gun control side wants no more lengthy weights on gun purchases.

The debate on our Rights as Americans continues.
