Usain Bolt : I am sure if I get the chance to visit Africa , I would enjoy the food . I have been told some of our foods are similar .
ASM : You have lots of competition from your own countrymen in Asafa Powell and Yohan Blake your training partner as well as Tyson Gay of the USA , do you think any of these afore mentioned athletes will dethrone you at this Olympic Games in London as the best sprinter in the world ?
Usain Bolt : I take all my competitors seriously , even those from my own country . The competition is good for the sport of track and field . When I am on the track it is to give the best at all times . I always aim to be at the top of my game at all times .
ASM : In July of this year the IAAF will be celebrating 100 years of its existence and they will be inducting some great names into its new hall of fame like Jesse Owens and Africa ’ s Abebe Bikila the greatest distance runner of all time , putting that into context here what legacy do you want to leave for the sport of Athletics when you retire someday in the future
Usain Bolt : My legacy is to be recognised as a legend of the sport and to represent the sport both as a competitive athlete and also as someone who has contributed to the growth and development of the sport .
ASM : We know you visited Kenya back in 2009 , have you ever been back to Africa since that visit ?
Usain Bolt : I have not been back . Maybe Africa needs to organise some more track and field competitions
ASM : Besides Kenya what other countries in Africa would you love to visit ?
Usain Bolt : South Africa sounds interesting
ASM : If you were to be invited to compete in a track meet in an African country would you go ?
Usain Bolt : It sure will depend on the time of year and how it fits into my general schedule .
ASM : Africa is set to bid to host the Olympic Games sometime soon would you support Africa ’ s bid to bring the games to the continent for the first time ever it its 100 plus years of existence
Usain Bolt : I support any Games which includes track and field , as the sport is responsible for promoting the talent of young people competing for their country .
ASM : Have you ever wondered what your African ancestry is and if so would you take a DNA test just to be specific as to which African country your ancestors were exactly from ?
Usain Bolt : I have not thought it about seriously , but I am sure If I have the time to look I am sure I will find something interesting .
