Cup tournament is viewed because of the selfish needs of the Premiership
does smack of racism?
Funny enough though most football clubs in the premiership and Europe
will send agents or representatives to the Nations cup and the place is often swamped by scouts looking for the next generation of talent on the
conveyor belt of African football!
Some people have suggested that they move the Nations cup to June. But
I remember having that conversation with Avram Grant at a press conference when he was manager of Chelsea. I quickly pointed out to him that
it would not be possible as that was the rainy season in African countries.
But why should African football dance to their tune? How dare they tell
us what and when to play football!
One thing is for sure though. No matter what side of the debate you fall
on, African players will always be in demand and will continue to be essential commodities in leagues like the English Premiership!
