“Cameroon is back after we were written off. We need to work now, set up friendlies not against small teams. We must not be afraid to play against top teams like England, Portugal and Germany. It will be good for the players,” said Milla who featured at three World Cups.

With the recent player strikes that causd a lot of uproar between players and officials, Cameroon really has a lot to do if they are to live up to Milla’s words. A round of 16 finish is possible.

Algeria

The Desert Foxes are the only nation from outside Western Africa to have qualified for the World Cup this year and they did it at the expense of a talented West African side in the Stallions of Burkina Faso.

Algeria have had very little success on the continent and will be hoping that skipper Majid Bougherra will carry them to their first ever World Cup victory. They got to the World Cup in 1982, 1986 and 2010 and have had acute goal scoring issues.

The honest truth is that little is expected from Algeria at the World Cup but surprises can always spring up where no one is expecting it.

With the quintet identical to Africa’s ambassadors at the 2010 World Cup, surely it is about time Africa rise up from the ashes and claim global honor.
