African Sports Monthly February 2013 Issue | страница 8

Letter from the Chairman/CEO Hello fans and readers, The month of February in the African sports world has been a unique one in terms of highs and lows. In the early going Nigeria was able to reclaim football glory which was 19 years in the making and then while Nigerians were still aglow with the victory of the Super Eagles in South Africa the team landed in Lagos coincidentally to news breaking that Oscar Pistorious one of our own in the African Sports Family had shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp to death after mistaking her for an intruder in his Pretoria home. So with such mixed emotional baggage we here at African Sports Monthly would like to extend our hearty Congratulations to the Super Eagles of Nigeria and especially Coach Stephen Keshi who achieved a major milestone by becoming the first ever black African Coach to win the Nations Cup. On the other hand we want to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the slain woman Ms. Reeva Steenkamp in the Oscar Pistorious tragedy and may her Soul Rest in Peace and our sympathy to Oscar Pistorious who though charged with murder has yet to be convicted of her death which according to his account was an accident. We hope that the truth comes out eventually when Oscar has his day in court in June. In the meantime we would like to ask fans and our readers to refrain from passing unfounded judgment giving the circumstances of the case. Our February issue has some very interesting issues dealt with, from the Pistorious saga to Murielle Ahoure breaking the African women’s 60 meters record. So take your time browse and enjoy, we are here to serve you and if you have any concerns please email us at [email protected] Remember to tell all your family and friends to check our magazine out and support our efforts Best Regards Leslie Koroma Chairman/CEO African Sports Media Network African Sports Monthly 8
