Ivory Coast in their Quarter-Finals encounter to
make it through to their third African Cup of Nations Title.
The Super-Eagles and the first Coach who as a
player also won the AFCON trophy; Coach
Stephen Keshi took the unlikely route path by
selecting non-stars and unheralded players and
shocked the World.
On Sunday February 10th 2013 Sunday Mba of the
Super Eagles of Nigeria took down the Stallions of
Burkina Faso another dark horse which made it all
the way in a thrilling match at Soccer City
Johannesburg that ended in a one nil win for the
Super Eagles to once again hoist the AFCON
trophy making it the third for the giant nation in
the history of the African Cup of Nations.
Coach Stephen Keshi at the same time became the
first black African Coach to win it all.
After the match at a Press Conference, Coach
Keshi dedicated the trophy to all Nigerian and
African Coaches who do not get the respect and
trust of their countrymen to man the sidelines as
Coaches of their national teams.
From the Team at African Sports Monthly;
Congratulations Super Eagles on winning the
African Cup Of Nations Trophy and a special
Congratulations to Coach Stephen Keshi on a
mission accomplished and making all African
Coaches from the smallest of leagues to the most
sophisticated on the continent and beyond proud.
