All measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as per the WHO guidelines need to be adhered to when visiting Mozambique . Mozambique launched their vaccination campaign against Covid-19 in Maputo in March 2021 , with the country ' s Health Minister Armindo Tiago being the first to take the vaccine provided by China .

According to the World Health Organisation ( WHO ), a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers aged one year and older , travelling to Mozambique or arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission . A vaccination certificate is also required for travellers who have travelled for more than 12 hours through an airport in a country with risk of yellow fever transmission .
There is a risk of malaria throughout the year in Mozambique , with the highest risk in coastal areas . As such , travellers are advised to get treatment in the form of mosquito-bite prevention plus atovaquone proguanil or doxycycline or mefloquine chemoprophylaxis .
