WESCOAL : FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS

Coal mining company Wescoal is firing on all cylinders on the production front , boosted by efficient production from the newest addition to its stable of operating mines – the Moabsvelden colliery in Delmas .
Wescoal ’ s medium-term production target of 8 Million tonnes ( Mt ) for the year is now well within reach , with run-of-mine production from the Arnot mine , in which Wescoal holds a 50 % shareholding , also imminent . Arnot Opco recently concluded a 10-year CSA with Eskom that will see this first-of-its-kind broad-based empowerment company supply coal to Eskom ’ s Arnot power station via conveyor belts .

Since late 2018 , Wescoal ’ s financial performance has been under pressure , affected by mining contractor changes , strike action , above average rainfall , a fatality , and more recently the impact of Covid-19 .
These challenges also impacted the business ’ s ability to generate cash and coupled with the significant investment that the group
