Exploration East Africa West Africa Ethiopia approves EAM’s mining agreements Golden Rim bonanza at Kouri Location: Ethiopia Resource: Gold Location: Côte d’Ivoire Resource: Gold The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Ethiopia has approved the mining agreements for TSX-listed East Africa Metals’ (EAM) Mato Bula and Da Tambuk gold projects in the Tigray region. The final step in the mining licence process is the formal ratification of the mining agreements by the Ethiopian Council of Ministers. “The Ministry of Mines’ approval of the Mato Bula and Da Tambuk mining agreements advances two additional mining projects to the development stage. This is another important milestone achieved by East Africa in the emerging mining sector of Ethiopia,” says Andrew Lee Smith, CEO at EAM. East Africa Metals has received approval for the mining agreement to explore the Mato Bula and Da Tambuk gold projects in Ethiopia. With the completion of the two mining agreements, EAM now has three advanced development gold projects close to each other and existing transportation and power infrastructure. According to Smith, the company will continue to engage in discussions with interested parties on project financing and advancing engineering of the Mato Bula and Da Tambuk projects. b www.africanmining.co.za The new RC drilling comprises 23 holes. Golden Rim said in a statement that a number of significant new gold intercepts were obtained from a footwall shear, which lies adjacent to the mineral resource. The recent structural study completed by SRK Consulting at Kouri, interpreted the main cross-cutting east–west magnetic linear anomaly in the mineral resource area as a footwall shear. The study further indicated that this footwall shear may be the main fluid transfer pathway that mobilised mineralising fluids into the mineral resource area. The footwall shear is associated with a magnetic high anomaly that extends for at least 5km within the Kouri licence. To date, only limited drilling has been conducted along the footwall shear and Golden Rim is now planning a systematic drilling programme to test the anomaly to the east and west of the high-grade intercepts. Further, there are a number of additional similarly orientated shear zones throughout the Kouri project area that offer attractive future exploration targets. Golden Rim Resources has received good results from its reverse circulation drilling programme conducted at its Kouri gold project in Burkina Faso. MARCH - APRIL 2019 AFRICAN MINING The new high-grade gold mineralisation lies in a river channel under alluvial sediment cover. The river channel is dry for most of the year and trenching is to commence shortly to confirm the orientation of the mineralisation prior to further drilling. b Exploration work in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Emerging gold exploration company Golden Rim Resources has received good results from its reverse circulation (RC) drilling programme conducted at its Kouri gold project in Burkina Faso. According to the company, Kouri hosts a 1.4 million-ounce mineral resource. 5
