Based on our deep knowledge of and experience working in the Copperbelt, we have been able to pre-empt customer challenges and proactively respond to their needs.
Helping mines achieve autonomy African mines are actively pursuing greater autonomy as a strategic goal to enhance safety, improve efficiency, and reduce costs to ensure long-term competitiveness. It is expected that several prominent African mining projects on the continent will be fully automated by 2040.
Therefore, BME continues to seek collaborations with technology companies in the fields of automation, artificial intelligence, autonomy and digital solutions.
For example, our mobile manufacturing units( MMUs) now feature innovative smart features, such as XPLOLOG™ and XPLOCHARGE™ for real-time monitoring, data capture and analysis. This level of precision optimises emulsion delivery into blast holes, resulting in cost savings and increased efficiency in response to customers’ demands.
In collaboration with technology leader Strayos, we recently introduced XPLOSMART™ under the BME banner, which enables mine benches with informed metrics of upstream conditions, predictable bench outcomes and additional downstream benefits realised. This is realised through high spectral image processing and artificial intelligence( AI) capabilities.
It includes 3D photogrammetry, drone fragmentation, rock mass analysis and smart drill analytics, as well as geotechnical analysis and modelling. This new product stream enhances BME’ s offering extending to a future-fit, mine-to-mill solutions provider with modular and integrated solutions underpinned by AI – further extending our capabilities into ore body movement, haul-road intelligence, highwall safety and rock mass AI.
BME makes use of used oil as a key raw material in its emulsion explosives, a sustainable and eco-friendly solution. The company uses up to 20 % of South Africa ' s used oil for blasting, reducing environmental risks and supporting local communities.
Significant advantages can be gained within the comminution circuit, enabling mine-to-mill benefits.
FLS’ s rail-running belt conveyors have provided a breakthrough in sustainable conveying from mine to plant, across the plant and in other applications.
