SEPARATORS THAT IMPROVE RECOVERY
New versatile magnetic separators introduced by Metso Outotec will enable superior separation selectivity and improved recovery of fine and ultra-fine particles .
Metso Outotec delivered its first separator in the 1890s . According to Jan Jirestig , product manager , magnetic separators at Metso Outotec the company ’ s High Gradient Magnetic Separators ( HGMS ) are designed to recover weakly magnetic material from non-magnetic matter and can be used for many applications including the processing of iron ores , rare earth elements and other weakly magnetic minerals , which are not normally treatable by ordinary magnetic separators .
“ The Low Intensity Magnetic Separators ( LIMS ), which are designed to recover magnetic material from non-magnetic matter , use physical separation and don ’ t require chemicals in the process .
“ The Low Intensity Magnetic Separators feature modular design with several frames and process tank designs and use a common magnetic drum for ease of selection of the best machine for each individual application ,” says Jirestig .
Metso Outotec ’ s offering also includes the SLon Vertically Pulsating High-Gradient Magnetic Separator ( VPHGMS ), which processes fine , weakly-magnetic minerals . The units are wet , high-intensity magnetic separators that use a combination of magnetic force , pulsating fluid , and gravity to process minerals . independent distributors , or dealers .
“ In terms of these three countries , we are now transitioning to that dealer support model ,” highlights Njoroge . From a footprint perspective , Cummins is not reducing its coverage as a result . “ It is very important for our customers to understand that we are not exiting these countries .”
The benefits of appointing dealers compared to having a brickand-mortar presence in-country is the added flexibility it affords Cummins in responding to customer requirements .
“ These entities are highly entrepreneurial and have a lot of inherent agility due to being involved with our customers at ground level ,” adds Njoroge . “ From a Cummins perspective , we are here to provide power solutions that empower our customers ’ success .”
