On 20 September 2024 , her excellency , Sanji Monageng , High Commissioner of the Republic of Botswana to the Republic of South Africa , welcomed big business to a Botswana Country Focus Seminar held in Johannesburg . The event was organised by Innovative Entrepreneurs NPC 1 in collaboration with the Botswana High Commission in South Africa , Forvis Mazars2 and the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre ( BITC ) 3 .
The objective of the seminar was to promote foreign direct investment ( FDI ) into Botswana by creating a platform for experts to share knowledge and experience of the realities and the ease of doing business in Botswana , to showcase trade and investment opportunities available , to facilitate B2B networking as well as to discuss existing challenges in penetrating the constantly evolving Botswanan market . Although the targeted audience was largely big business based in South Africa , which – consistent with the BRICS agenda – is a renowned source market of FDI into Africa and one of the top-performing economies in terms of GDP on the continent ; the focus also incorporated Multinationals , interested in being headquartered in Botswana to service sub-Saharan Africa from Botswana and to take advantage of the business environment offered by the resource rich , politically stable and forward-thinking country .
Open for business “ Botswana ’ s centrality in southern Africa , its political and macroeconomic stability coupled with a liberal , open and low tax environment as well as the absence of exchange controls , solid labour relations and high literacy rate , together with a sound road network infrastructure , make us a compelling investment location to domicile in on the African Continent ,” said Monageng .
