MTE ADDS EXCITING NEW SHOWS TO THE MAY EDITION
By Sharon Mdaka
Mpumalanga will host its first combo exhibition, coinciding with the launch of the Amandelbult expo in Limpopo. These will form part of the four high-impact exhibitions taking place in May, hosted by the travelling Mining and Technical Exhibitions( MTE).
MTE returns to Mpumalanga with two combo shows, starting with the new show in Emalahleni on 5 May 2026, where mining, engineering, mineral processing and power stations will dominate the theme of the day. On 7 May 2026, this solutions-driven exhibition will swiftly move to Middelburg.
These shows will be accompanied by another combo expo in Limpopo, starting at Zondereinde, followed by Amandelbult on 19 and 21 May 2026, respectively, in the platinum mining, engineering and mineral processing areas. These combo packages are designed to connect mining professionals with industry experts and suppliers to address operational challenges, and re-evaluate materials handling and energy efficiency, among other daily operational challenges.
According to a market analysis from the Investing in African Mining Indaba, coal remains one of the top ten commodities to watch in 2026. Despite global trends towards decarbonisation, thermal coal continues to see demand in parts of Asia, while metallurgical coal maintains its importance for industrial applications.
This May tour is well-aligned with the needs of Mpumalanga’ s coal and industrial operations, as most operations are currently looking into the pressures related to materials handling systems and logistics constraints. On the other hand, Limpopo’ s platinum industry tends to focus on underground support, concentrator performance and maintaining production stability under challenging conditions.
The onsite mining exhibition offers mining professionals a timely platform to engage with practical, site-level solutions demonstrated by leading industry experts. It provides direct access to decisionmakers and an opportunity to explore innovative technologies first-hand.
The two regions sit at the heart of South Africa’ s coal and energy landscape. Operations in this area are heavily dependent on reliable materials handling systems, efficient maintenance practices and robust support infrastructure. The timing of the shows is ideal, as many operations are reassessing the performance of conveyor systems, transfer points and wear components after months of continuous service.
For mining professionals attending these shows, the focus should be on solutions that demonstrably improve uptime and reduce maintenance intervention. There will be an opportunity to engage with exhibitors specialising in advanced technology and power solutions, from energy-efficient motors and drives to monitoring systems that allow better control over consumption.
The Mpumalanga and Limpopo tour will give mining professionals practical interventions to their daily operations, and offer underground support systems that are required by mines to maintain consistent production.
Visitors are encouraged to come with an inquisitive mind and to interact with the different stands at the expo. The Mpumalanga shows will start from 13:00 until 17:00, with the Zondereinde expo starting at 12:00 until 16:00 and Amandelbult at 13:00 to 17:00. •
