Editor’s view Africa is trending You know that African architecture and design is trending when one of the biggest architectural publications dedicates a whole issue to the topic. The May 2017 issue of The Architectural Review, a monthly international architectural magazine which was first published in London in 1896, turns its spotlight on ‘Africa’, which has become a lazy substitute for any number of ideas from the political to the social, cultural, historical and economic. In the issue, they reject the stereotypes and, from refugee camps to Art Deco housing; starchitects to wooden skyscrapers, counter the notion of Gregg Cocking Africa as a place to be influenced. African Design Magazine is proud to have assisted The Architectural Review with the issue by highlighting notable African architects and projects which we have featured on our pages, including Wolff Architects, Ross Langdon + Studio FH, David Adjaye, Urko Sanchez and Diébédo Francis Kéré. In our latest issue we continue to highlight work from the African continent, and in this issue feature projects from Angola, Mozambique, Tunisia, Tanzania, Egypt and South Africa, among others.
