irst Place Professional Track went to Emanuele Santini, architect at Masa
Studio in Rome, Italy. Masa Studio is a multi-disciplinary design practice
working in the fields of Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Studies and
GIS: the main fields of activity concern the environmental sustainability
and building renovation with focus on the relationship between
architectural design and environment.
Participants in the competition were invited to submit a design about
a building for the hospital stay and rehabilitation of women affected
by cancer in Mwanza, close to the Bugando Medical Centre (BMC) and
