Youth to the fore
Youth Day, previously known as Soweto Day,
commemorates the sacrifices made by young people 40
years ago in the name of education.
As education remains a burning issue in South Africa,
listening to the voices of students is imperative – with this
in mind, The South African Council for the Architectural
Profession (SACAP) is focusing on Youth Month and will
be participating in career expos to promote architecture as
an exciting, viable and meaningful career choice for high
school learners and in so doing, it will raise the awareness
about the architectural profession.

This is a fantastic initiative to inspire the next generation of
young African architects, and you can read more about the subject on page 8
(or click here to be redirected).
In this, our latest issue, we continue to highlight architectural and design work
from the African continent, and in this issue feature projects from South Africa,
Ghana, Egypt, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya among others. Please feel free
to share the issue with colleagues and friends who may also be interested in
African design. AD
