To mark the IAKS’s 50th anniversary, the IAKS has created an IAKS All-Time
Award. The idea is to highlight outstanding or landmark sports and leisure
facilities that may well have influenced the development of sports architecture or
sports facility building products.

ere are the IAKS (International Association for Sports and Leisure
Facilities) All-Time Award winners - sports and leisure facilities which
have raised the interaction between sports and architecture to higher
levels and have granted the profession world-wide recognition.
The International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS)
was founded in 1965. It is the only non-profit organization concerned
globally with the subject of sports and leisure facility development
and has been awarded the status of a Recognized Organization by the
International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Holmenkollen Ski Jump
The Holmenkollen site has been the cradle
of evolution in ski jumping, and the facility
has been upgraded and improved more
than nineteen times. Its building history
represents a form of record or architectural
fossil of the discipline’s progress. For the
2011 World Championships, the ski jump
was completely redesigned by JDS architects.
