Artist profile the famous artist from Senegal, also inspired my work with his expressive sculptures. Describe your style. I specialise in many antique art forms from Mali such as: • The Bambara style (originating from the region of Segu), • The Djenné-Djenno style (region of Djenné), • The Senufo style (region of Sikasso), • The Dogon style (Dogon country), • The Bozo style (from the Bozo tribe). I also create works that are more contemporary and my style represents an expressive combination of antique Malian art and occidental contemporary art. What is your general inspiration when you sit down to create? Some human attitudes, positions and frame of minds inspire me, such as like proudness and denial. When I am under pressure, I also take refuge in creating some works, like the sculpture ‘Douleur.’ What are you currently working on? I am currently working on a trophy for the African Cup of Nations as Africa is not visible enough on the cup at first sight. AD africandesignmagazine.com 11 0
