A notable feature of the project was the use of local materials – Mvule timber , white barkcloth , stone – in a minimalist design , complementing the existing grass thatched roofs by creating a ‘ ribbon ’ of pavilions tying together the entire mall .
Due to the success of the project , the client has already approached Studio FH Architects to design the next phase of the refurbishment which will include further enlargements and improvements to the mall , including the completion of the buildings surrounding the central Piazza . “ Quality Hill has experienced a large increase of sales since the completion of the refurbishment ; the feedback from customers has also been very positive . As such we are very pleased with the outcome which is also credit to the contractor and our sub-consultants , in particular the landscaper , who did a fabulous job ,” concludes Holland .
