WINNER OF THE 2018 SALI SHIELD
This state-of-the-art school playground equipment was entered into
the South African Landscapers Institute (SALI) Awards of Excellence in
the category ‘Specialised Landscape Construction’ by the joint venture
contractors Tswellapele Plants CC and Microzone Trading 980 CC. It
was designated the overall winner in all categories out of 137 entries,
countrywide, and awarded the prized SALI Shield.
The judges’ appraisal mentioned that the real proof of success of
this project was the regular use by all age groups of the playground
equipment, which is modern and interesting in appearance; educational
and functional, strengthening the children physically and enhancing co-
ordination. Risks can be taken with a high degree of safety and, in the
judges’ opinion, the design and execution shows a good grasp of motor
skills development required by the wide age group of end-users.
