BRINGS MUCH-NEEDED RETAIL
CAPACITY TO MOZAMBIQUE
Matola Mall is the newest addition to Mozambique’s retail
arena. Officially known as Novare Matola, it is the first formal
shopping centre in Maputo’s bustling Matola area and is home
to 50 stores, anchored by a 6 000 m 2 Premier Superspar store.

teyn Le Roux Truter Architects
(SLTA) have designed a number of
retail centres throughout Africa,
including two retail centres for the same
client in Nigeria. The current size of the
centre is 19 000 m² GLA with a total
coverage of 23 000 m². This includes
services and auxiliary buildings, the
centre itself and the parking platform,
which together have the capacity to
double in size in the future.
Seamlessly integrating with the
environment
The brief was based on a GLA
requirement and a certain return on
