Independence Arch in Accra, 1967:
The Independence Arch was commissioned by the gurehead of the Ghanaian
independence movement, Kwame Nkrumah, to honour the visit of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II.
As part of a bigger complex, 'Black Star Square', as it is known, still hosts Ghana's
annual Independence Day parades, as well as national festivals and mass public
gatherings.
