STORY TELLING >
The Danger of A Single Story.
N igerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie gave a heartfelt
presentation during TEDX talk saying our lives, our cultures, are
composed of many overlapping stories. Novelist Chimamanda Adichie
tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice -- and
warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or
country, we risk a critical misunderstanding. It's what happens when
complex human beings and situations are reduced to a single
narrative: when Africans, for example, are treated solely as pitiable
poor, starving victims with flies on their faces.
