“From Aid to Trade: Enhancing Business Partnerships and Innovation for Sustainable water and sanitation Provision and
irrigation in Africa.“
“Sustainable water solutions in Africa in particular require innovative thinking and strong Public Private
Partnerships in order to drive the transformation towards efficient and economically viable service delivery
within the context of green growth.” Kenya Water Week 2016 Secretariat.
In recognition of the global shift from Aid to Trade, sustainable financing and development, the Ministry
of Water and Irrigation together with the Water Services Trust Fund, KEWASNET, KEWI and other
collaborating institutions are organizing for the 1st Annual Kenya Water Week 2016 (KEWAWK). KEWAWK
will provide a dynamic water business and innovation networking opportunity for key public and private water
sector players with the ultimate result of matching sector challenges to solutions.
This will contribute towards more sustainable and economically viable service delivery, and ultimately towards
sustainable development. The Conference will bring together Government institutions, Water Utilities,
Research and Academic Institutions, Private Sector Institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations among
others from around the world.
Objectives
To bring together key stakeholders in the water sector to share ideas on how to stimulate and enhance trade,
innovation and development in the sector.
Kenya Water Week 2016 will provide a unique forum to explore opportunities and trends in the Kenyan and
African Water sector, provide a platform for exchange of ideas and technological advances between public
and private, national and global institutions, and explore alternative, sustainable sector financing models in
the spirit of public private cooperation.
Innovation and knowledge development will be a key focus of the Conference and Kenyan Research and
Academic institutions with Research and Development centres are invited to compete in the Innovation
Challenge Awards. Winners of the competition will not only receive recognition Awards but also opportunities
for further incubation. Sector institutions will be recognized for Performance and Innovation towards 2030
goals.
