World Water Day 2019
Each year, World Water
Day highlights a specific
aspect of freshwater.
In 2019, the theme
is “Leaving No One
Behind (Human Rights
and Refugees)”
World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as
a means of focusing attention on the importance
of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable
management of freshwater resources.
An international day to celebrate freshwater
was recommended at the 1992 United Nations
Conference on Environment and Development
(UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly
responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the
first World Water Day.
The Global Water Summit 2019
Dates: 8 – 10
April 2019
Location:
Sofitel London
Heathrow
Hotel,
Hounslow UK
Renowned for its high level attendance, thought-
leading content and unrivalled networking
opportunities, this Summit attracts more top water
leaders and business executives than any other
water event and is vital in shaping the movements
of the water industry each year.
Over the last 10 years, more and more senior
executives working in water have realized that
attending the Global Water Summit is crucial if
they are serious about growing their businesses,
understanding how core markets are developing,
keeping up with the competition and forging new
business contacts.
Business meetings are at the heart of this
industry-renowned event. Every year, over 600
top executives – including water business leaders,
industrial water users, utility managers, leading
water technology providers and major investors
– come together to determine water’s key role in
sustainable economic growth and to meet with
potential partners, suppliers and clients.
The International Day for Biological Diversity
The International
Day for Biological
Diversity, also
known as World
Biodiversity Day, is
celebrated on May
22.. It is a United
Nations–sanctioned
international day for the promotion of biodiversity
issues. The day is celebrated annually.
From its creation by the Second Committee of
the UN General Assembly in 1993 until 2000, it
was held on December 29 to celebrate the day
the Convention on Biological Diversity went into
effect. On December 20, 2000, the date was shifted
to commemorate the adoption of the Convention
on May 22, 1992 at the Rio Earth Summit, and
partly to avoid the many other holidays that occur
in late December. This text has been taken from
