Consutants from Industrial Inkjet (IIJ) and major
wallpaper manufacturers met at Heimtextil for
an update on the IIJ development of a full speed
industrial wallpaper-production capability using
digital technology.
Since its launch in 2016, over 900 devices from
the Canon imagePRESS C850 series of production
colour presses have been installed in EMEA.
Combined with the imagePRESS C650 model, an
extension of the imagePRESS C850 series launched
in March 2017, the installed base in EMEA exceeds
1650 units.
Following the launch of the imagePRESS C850
and C750 models in Autumn 2016, feedback from
commercial print service providers (PSPs) and in-
house printing departments highlights the devices’
unique capabilities including auto-duplex banner
printing, semi-automated page registration, the
ability to print on a variety of different substrates
and extended fi nishing capabilities, all of which are
helping customers to explore new possibilities with
digital print.
Developed in line with market demand for high
quality colour output, excellent productivity and
extended media fl exibility, the imagePRESS C850
series is helping PSPs and in-house print rooms to
increase operational effi ciencies, enabling them to
focus on other value-added activities and open up
new business opportunities.

After more than two years of painstaking research
and testing with partner Konica Minolta on a
solution that can compete with conventional
printing methods on both productivity and cost-
per roll, IIJ showed the results at the event.
The IIJ team had sample rolls, printed on its
demonstration digital system, to show how the
landscape is dramatically changing in wallpaper
production where ink performance and cost, print
width and speed are all now within reach.
The system prints a wide range of typical
wallpaper media, including paper, PVC and non-
woven (coated and uncoated), at high speed. The
system is not restrained on image length and can
print mural-wall images back-to-back without a
gap. www.industrialij.com
