TANZANIA & ZANZIBAR
~ Mount Kilimanjaro ~ Exotic ‘ Spice Island ’ beaches ~ ~ Annual great migration at Serengeti ~ Culture ~
From the sheer variety of wildlife , to epic landscapes , Maasai warriors and the palmfringed beaches on the ‘ Spice Island ’ of Zanzibar , Tanzania is a country of many parts and the quintessential romantic image of Africa . Kilimanjaro National Park is one of the most visited regions – not for its wildlife , although there is plenty – but to gaze in awe at the snowcapped majesty of the mountain itself . At the incomparable Serengeti National Park , witness vast herds of animals grazing on the seemingly endless shimmering plains . It ’ s here also that an epic migration of animals in their millions , predominately wildebeest , follow the ancient rhythm of Africa ’ s seasons by embarking on a frenzied search for greener pastures , dodging crocodiles as they cross the river . It ’ s a totally awesome spectacle ! Lake Manyara National Park is home to treeclimbing lions , a large population of elephants , thousands of pink flamingos and glorious scenery .
The UNESCO listed Ngorongoro Conservation Area provides a jaw-dropping setting for prey and predators which graze and prowl the open grasslands , swamps , lake and acacia woodland . It ’ s not just the wildlife that ’ s enchanting ; exotic Zanzibar , known locally as Unguja , entices with stunning white-sand beaches , vibrant coral reefs and warm , clear blue waters . This former seat of the Sultans and spice trade hub is just the place to relax and reflect post-safari .
