DAY 1 Cape Town / Hermanus
You will be collected from your Cape Town hotel or airport for this escorted tour . The journey begins with a stunning coastal drive to the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden before continuing to Stony Point to see the small breeding colony of African penguins . Continue to the picturesque coastal town of Hermanus .
DAY 2 Hermanus / Oudtshoorn
Explore Hermanus ’ unique cliff paths where you ’ re sure to be mesmerised by the views of Walker Bay . As you walk keep your eyes peeled for Southern Right whales which visit the bay from July to November . Depart late morning and stop in the pretty village of Barrydale for lunch ( at extra cost ), which lies on the scenic “ Route 62 ”. Travel onwards to Oudtshoorn , known as the ‘ feather capital of the world ’, for a guided tour of an ostrich farm .
DAY 3 Oudtshoorn / Knysna
Go underground to marvel at magnificent stalactites and stalagmites in the impressive Cango Caves , hailed as one of South Africa ’ s most spectacular natural wonders . You ’ ll then enjoy wine tasting at a boutique wine estate , situated at the foothills of the majestic Swartberg Mountains . Later , travel on via the panoramic Outeniqua Pass to Knysna , known as the oyster box of South Africa .
DAY 4 Knysna
Journey into the magical Knysna Forests , stamping ground of the elusive Knysna elephants , to hear stories of woodcutters who worked the forests , elephants that were hunted to extinction and the discovery of gold . Continue to the Dalene Matthee Big Tree Memorial , an enormous Yellowwood tree of over 880 years . After a delicious lunch of traditional cuisine and local treats you have the option ( at extra expense and subject to availability ) to visit Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary , to see a variety of primates roaming free in the forest ( a portion of the trip price goes toward protecting this already endangered species ). There is also an option ( at extra expense and subject to availability ) to visit the Birds of Eden Sanctuary , the biggest single free flight aviary in the world ( again , a portion of the trip price goes toward protecting the birds ). Return to Knysna for a drive to the famous Eastern Head , from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Knysna Heads ( weather permitting ).
DAY 5 Knysna / Tsitsikamma
Travel to Plettenberg Bay for an ocean safari ( weather permitting ). During the summer months you may see bottlenose and common dolphin as well as seals , while in the winter months both Southern Right and humpback whales may be seen . This afternoon , those brave enough may like to attempt the world ’ s highest bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge ( at extra cost and weather permitting ) before travelling to the picturesque village of Storms River .
DAY 6 Tsitsikamma / Port Elizabeth
This morning , immerse yourself in the splendour and tranquillity of the Tsitsikamma National Park and head to the Storms River Mouth for unrivalled views of the Indian Ocean ( weather permitting ). Continue to Port Elizabeth where the tour concludes with a drop off at a central hotel or at the airport .
