Jan P. Sockel
Jan Sockel is the Vice President & General Manager, NRG Energy Center
Harrisburg LLC:
Jan was a founding member of the Harrisburg Steam Works, Harrisburg
Cooling and Paxton Creek Cogeneration Associates. Together these projects
heat and cool approximately 130 buildings in downtown Harrisburg, PA
and provide electricity to the PJM grid.
The companies founded by Jan and his partners were acquired by NRG Energy, Inc. in 2000
and Jan currently serves as Vice President for these NRG subsidiaries.
Prior to Jan’s Harrisburg endeavors he was a consulting engineer in the power generation business at Gilbert Commonwealth, Reading, PA (currently Worley Parsons). Jan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Penn State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Delaware. Mark Guiffre
As UPS East Region Vice President of State Government Affairs, Mark Giuffré has responsibility for public policy that affects all UPS entities in the Northeast. In his role, he handles issues covered at local, state, and federal levels. Giuffré manages State Government Relations for UPS in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
A native of New York, Giuffré started with UPS in 1988 as a package car driver in New York City.
Giuffré serves on several boards affecting industry in the Northeast including the Alternative Fuel Renewable Energy Council (AFREC), the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association, the New Jersey Motor Truck Association, the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut, the Rhode Island Trucking Association, the Massachusetts Motor Transport Association, the New Hampshire Motor Transport Association, the Vermont Truck and Bus Association, and the Maine Motor Transport Association. He also serves on the Legislative Committee for the NY State Motor Truck Association
The Chair Emeritus of National Safe Place, Giuffré continues to serve on their board of directors.
Jack Christensen
Jack Christensen is currently employed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as Director of the Facilities and Energy Management Operations (FEMO) Department. The FEMO Department is responsible for overseeing the Turnpike’s physical facilities including the development and management of the $45 million dollar Annual Capital Plan, as well as maintenance and new construction/renovation projects system-wide. Energy projects implemented and strategized include Guaranteed Energy Savings Act (GESA) projects, curtailment service (load shedding), wind & solar generation opportunities, electric vehicle charging stations, energy auctions, and natural gas fueling stations.
He has obtained the Certified Facility Manager (CFM) designation from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), the Renewable Energy Professional (REP) designation from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the PA Facility Managers Association and has 25+ years of facility management experience that includes all of the core competencies of the profession.
