Executive Summary

Mace Hartley Executive Director

I ’ m proud to say AFMA has burst out of the gates in 2017 and is off to a flying start . We ’ ve had a huge response from a number of our affiliates equally as passionate about benefitting and promoting the fleet management vocation as we are . But this year , with invaluable support from our Corporate Partners Carryboy , Hyundai , Manheim and NTT Data Figtree Systems , we ’ re reaching even further , pushing for the next level .
Our headline act , no not Guns ‘ n ’ Roses , is of course the 2017 Australasian Fleet Conference & Exhibition sponsored by Event Partners Toyota Fleet and Toyota Fleet Management , which is on-track to being our single biggest event ever . Like the proverbial duck , calmly sitting on the lake but furiously paddling beneath the surface , explains a little of what ’ s happening in the AFMA office of late . We ’ ve got some highly engaging , informative and maybe even a little controversial content lined up all dedicated to forging new paths , resurfacing old ones and advancing the automotive industry as a whole . It ’ s not just fleet managers in the spotlight this year – because fleet management involves more than just the few with ‘ fleet ’ on their business card .
I ’ d like to personally invite the many collaborators involved in delivering an effective , safe and sustainable fleet operation . The collaborators generally include the Fleet Manager of course , OH & S Managers , Human Resource Managers , Procurement Managers ,
Sustainability Managers and the leaders of these functions the CFOs and CEOs . Conference pricing has been structure so that each additional collaborator will pay just $ 302.50 ( incl . GST ) each if accompanying a Fleet Manager who ’ s purchased a two day ticket .
It ’ s the same ethos for our Professional Development Forums , which this year get a full-blown workout . We ’ re pressing the best in the business , industry experts and some truly great minds to impart all they know on fleet management and we encourage participation from all fleet management collaborators . So if your company or organisation takes seriously its responsibilities , obligations and aspires to be exemplars of fleet management , don ’ t miss your local forums .
We have to thank the academia at Swinburne University for helping get the Diploma of Leadership and Management into its coursework for 2017 . If you ’ re in the automotive industry and want to add even more gravitas to what you do , this course offers a huge return for your employer . We ’ ve had a strong response already so get involved .
You can also now follow AFMA on Twitter as well as LinkedIn – where we ’ d like you to use the hashtag # eyesforward and tag us in anything you read that ’ s related to vehicle / road safety . Our social media campaign asks fleet drivers to simply look up and watch what they ’ re doing out on the road . It ’ s the reason
