WHAT IS AfMA ?
Australasian Fleet Management Association ( AfMA ) is a non-profit organisation with over 550 members throughout Australia , New Zealand and South East Asia . AfMA ’ s membership base comes from all industries and levels of government and are responsible for the management of approximately 800,000 fleet assets .
AfMA acknowledges the multidiscipline skills required to deliver best practice fleet management and that often multiply people within an organization contribute to efficient , sustainable and safety first fleet management .
AfMA ’ s charter includes promoting fleet management as a true vocation just like becoming an accountant or a lawyer . We ’ re keen to enhance the professionalism of fleet management and develop clear pathways for continuing education .
AfMA is a conduit of expert information for fleet professionals and works with a range of professionals to provide knowledge and understanding . AfMA plays an important lobbying role on behalf of the fleet industry and forges an inclusive relationship within the automotive industry , including manufacturers , importers , distributors and suppliers , AfMA embraces the entire spectrum of fleet sector partnerships to meet its objectives .
The changing world of Fleet Management means it ’ s vital to have an Association pro-active in providing independent knowledge and information while putting pressure , encouragement and emphasis on governments to act or develop potential legislation affecting and benefiting the Fleet industry .
THE MEMBERS
AfMA Membership plays the pivotal role in bolstering the fleet management profession . It ’ s the reason we exist , to serve our members . Divided into two segments , 80 per cent Corporate Members and 20 per cent Suppliers , both categories play equally important parts in the fleet sector .
Corporate Members are those organisations who poses a fleet of vehicles from 5 to 15,000 and beyond , while Supplier Members contribute products and services to the fleet industry crucial for its continued operation and on-going improvement .
Corporate Membership is almost equally divided between government and private fleets .
THE CHAPTER COMMITTEES
Seven Chapters make up a cross-section of AfMA Members , each with its own Chapter Committee , throughout Australia and in New Zealand :
New South Wales Queensland South Australia Tasmania Victoria Western Australia New Zealand
Chapter committees provide valuable input by programming of Professional Development Forums throughout the year and advise the National Office of issues relevant to their specific region .
THE SUB-COMMITTEES
Various sub-committees assist the national office with planning and execution of AfMA events such as the annual Fleet Conference & Exhibition , Professional Development Forums and the AfMA Awards night .
Each committee consists of AfMA Members across an array of organisations , industry groups , fleet sizes and geographic areas .
Committees advise on special interest groups such as the Not-For-Profit sector , benchmarking , taxation , safety , environment and education .
Members are encouraged to get involved and maintain the philosophy of ‘ for the Members , by the Members ’.
