Editor’s Note
Greetings,
For as long as I can remember, learning has always
been one of my favorite things to do. They joy I had
for this activity was always amplified when it came to
health and wellness, and I’ve always welcomed information from those who are skilled within their unique
health fields and seek to teach and uplift others.
This issue of AFIYA Magazine was a joy to put together
because it allowed for me to recognize a wide range of
individuals in different areas of health. In celebration of
Womens Health Month and Mens Health Month,
we decided to use this issue as a way to celebrate
men and women making a difference in their
communities.
Andreka Bryant of Creativeniche, LLC shares more
with us about her DIY creations and love for holistic
health. We learn from Registered Dieititian, Doniss
Hicks, and Certified Herbalist, Latricia Wright, about
fibroid tumors in Black women.
Gabori Hill of The Fitness Representative shares some
exercises with us, and we also speak with Maria
Gordon about her successful health transformation. I,
myself, even provide a bit more insight into my passion for wellness and why we should take the time to
celebrate good health. Plus, so much more.
The months of May and June encourage us to
celebrate the men and women we love and to
advocate for healthy living within our lives and our
communities. I hope that this issue propels you to
make health a priority within your life and the lives of
your loved ones.
With Gratitude,
