Q: What is your favorite medium of art? Why?
A: My favorite medium of art is photography because it allows me to share the beauty already present in the world with others. I get to take something beautiful— an emotion, a color, a moment— and give it away. Capturing what makes the world alive is incredibly satisfying.
Q: What got you into photography?
A: My dad started teaching himself videography about four years ago, and he carried his camera around everywhere. I kept asking to borrow it whenever I saw something interesting, so my dad started teaching me about photography, and eventually I got my own camera. I’ve loved it ever since!
Q: What is your favorite picture you’ve ever taken and why?
A: Oh, goodness! That’s so hard! I’d say my favorite is of windmills in Holland; the sky is reflected on the water and it looks like the land is floating in the clouds. I love the illusion it creates and it’s calming but bright colors. I also really like this picture I took of my parents by a lighthouse. They’re laughing and it’s so genuine; it makes me smile every time I see it.
