Mayborn School of Journalism
Multimedia High School Workshop
July 22-28 at the University of North
Texas in Denton, Texas. Weeklong
multimedia reporting on assigned
events pertaining to the workshop
topic. Fifteen to 20 high school
students are involved in print,
broadcast and social media, under
the supervision of the workshop
director and 3 counselors. The work
produced is uploaded to a WordPress
site.

JOURNALISM IN JULY
Journalism in July at the University of
Texas El Paso is a one-week intensive
multimedia journalism workshop July
10-17 for 20 El Paso-Ciudad Juarez
metropolex high school students
sponsored by the Dow Jones News
Fund. The one week residential oncampus workshop includes bilingual
workshops and skills straining by
local area media parofessionals and
journalism professors. Students visit
local English and Spanish media
outlets and produce their own digital
news site.

Utah High School Journalism
Boot Camp, August 10-12
at Weber State University in
Ogden, Utah is a hands-on workshop
is three days of hard-core journalism.
The Boot Camp will provide
workshops on Data Journalism,
GRAMA Requests, Interviewing
Techniques, Ethics, Journalism Basics
and much more. Instruction will be
provided by professors and college
journalists, with plenty of one-on-one
help. The University of Utah, Utah
State University and Weber State
University partner in this one-of-akind, residential experience.

JCamp is a six-day intensive,
multicultural journalism training
for high school students. Students
learn from professional journalists
and get hands-on training in writing,
photography, television and radio
broadcasting, online media and
reporting. Sessions and workshops
are led by experienced journalists
from top media companies. JCamp
is an all-expenses-paid program with
travel, meals and lodging covered by
AAJA’s partners.
