Robin Gibson Sawyer, Dow Jones
News Fund’s
2000 National
HS Journalism
Teacher of the
Year, was elected
secretary of its
board in January.
Sawyer
She has been a
board member since 2002.
Sawyer teaches journalism
and advises the yearbook and
newspaper staffs at First Flight HS in
Kill Devil Hills, N.C.
Two Dow Jones executives
joined the board. They are Mark H.
Jackson, Dow Jones’ chief legal
officer, and Paul Schmidt, senior vice
president, finance and treasury.
The November 2012 annual
meeting was rescheduled to January
because of Hurricane Sandy.
Before his appointment as
executive vice president and general
counsel of Dow Jones & Co. in 2007,
Jackson was associate general
counsel of HarperCollins Publishers,
a subsidiary of News Corporation.
Prior to HarperCollins, he was a
partner in the litigation department
at Squadron, Ellenoff, Plesent &
Sheinfeld, where he worked from
1985 to 1997. In private practice,
Jackson represented a broad array
of interests in the newspaper,
magazine, book publishing, motion
picture and television industries.
