THE TOUGHEST
TERRAINS
IN THE USA
Do you consider yourself an experienced rider? If off-
roading is totally up your alley, you’ll want to make
room in your summer schedule for these extreme
trails. This is not a drill! Bring your best equipment and
your game face, because these trail systems are going
to put your skills to the ultimate test. From steep forest
slopes to rocky cliffs and broken mountainsides, get
ready to take on some of the toughest terrains in the
USA.
WAYNE NATIONAL FOREST
The Wayne National Forest, located in southeastern
Ohio, is widely known for its incredible OHM and ATV
trails. Wayne National Forest is easily accessible from
most metropolises in Ohio, such as Columbus, Cleve-
land, and Cincinnati, with only a few hours of drive time
for each. The Forest is managed by several districts,
and parts of it are under private ownership. There are
well over 300 miles of trails to ride on and explore.
Camping, hunting, and fishing is welcomed in the for-
est, so make a weekend out of it! Season passes are
available and will gain you access to camp anywhere
you wish here.
The season for trails is April through December, so
gear up and head out for the summer! The four trail
systems are broken up into mileage, and riders must
stay in these systems. For an extreme ride, check out
Hanging Rock ATV/OHM Trail System. The difficulty
level here is very high and there’s only one trailhead.
The system is designed with riders in mind, and with
strip mining scarring the area, you can expect steep
slopes and thrilling loops, so take them on if you dare.
