Love Civic Center provides both comfort and natural habitats for one of six nationally sanctioned ASA Pro/Am archery tournaments, conducted each year by the Archery Shooters Association. Each Pro/Am features top pros and amateur 3D archers from across America and abroad, competing for the large cash prizes in archery. The Shootout, held in Paris, offers more, with competitors vying for the specially designed signature belt buckles presented by the Paris Visitors and Convention Council. The Lamar County Cham- ber kicks the tournament off with the Scotty Norrell Memorial Shoot. Amateurs and pros can win cash prizes in each class. through the streets of Paris as well as on the Trail de Paris on the first Saturday in March. Come ride or walk 10.5 picturesque linear miles (21 miles round trip) of contiguous surfaced trails through Paris, Reno, Lamar County, and Blossom, which is a segment of the Northeast Texas Trail (NETT) that extends 130 miles through 19 towns and 7 counties west to Farmersville and east to New Boston. The NETT currently has 66 miles of unimproved natural trail. When completed, it will be the longest recreational trail in Texas. www.northesttexastrail.org. Paris Half de Marathon is a new event that takes participants Relax, explore, or participate in the many layers of outdoor activities happening in Paris and Lamar County. 26 | Summer 2017 | Adventure Outdoors Paris is home to several other outdoor sporting events throughout the year, including Tour de Paris Bicycle Rally in its 33 rd year with routes ranging from 14 miles on our Trail de Paris, to an 80-mile route in the beautiful countryside involving three counties. Hun- dreds of volunteers devote their time to offer refreshments, and make sure the routes and riders are safe. At the finish, cyclists are treated to a delicious homemade hamburger and fruit smoothie. While visiting Paris, be sure and visit our “Texanized” Eiffel Tower for that perfect photo op, rent a bicycle from the Bike Kiosk located at the Love Civic Center and ride the nearby Trail de Paris, or ex- plore the city. Stroll through the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial and pay tribute to Veterans from the past, present and future.
