Philpott Lake
Philpott Lake, as seen on FLW Outdoors, is a 3,000-acre
reservoir located in the northwest corner of Henry
County, offering a picturesque setting for outdoor enthu-
siasts. Philpott is home to numerous facilities scattered
around the lake such as boat landings, Philpott Marina,
campgrounds, picnic areas, beaches and hiking trails.
The lake also offers pleasure boaters and paddlers a va-
riety of places to explore, including hidden waterfalls,
scenic rock outcrops and three islands. If you enjoy fish-
ing, cast a line and reel in your next great catch, such as
small mouth bass, walleye, catfish, and a multitude of
other species.
Smith River Trail System
Below Philpott Dam, a 44.5-mile section of the Smith
River bisects Henry County as it travels from Philpott
Lake down to the North Carolina border. Known as the
Smith River Trail System, this network includes the scenic
Smith River Blueway with 10 river access points and
more than 20 miles of greenway.
